RUBY VEST WORKSHOP! SAT MARCH 7th 11-3:00pm
Get ready, Sewists, in March we are going to make the super CUTE quilted Ruby Vest from Syd Graham.
This workshop will be 4 hours long. The pattern has sizing available from 0-34 (up to a 61” bust and 54” waist). It is completely reversible and can be made with a variety of modifications so it is just right for YOU!
*You must have some basic machine sewing experience to attend this workshop. This class is appropriate for a confidant beginner.
Please choose your fabric color from the link below and include that information when you check out. There will be fun upcycled/repurposed fabric options for the lining/reverse side of your vest!
Linen Fabric: this is 100% linen that washes and wears beautifully!
If you are purchasing this workshop as a gift please let me know that in the “fabric choice” section and I will get a Gift Certificate ready and your recipient can choose their own fabric color when they receive your gift)
In this workshop you will learn:
how to measure your body and choose your size
How to cut your pattern pieces
How to quilt your fabric
How to attach bias tape (and I will teach you how to make your own!)
Included in this workshop:
100% pre-washed linen fabric
upcycled fabrics for your vest lining
cotton batting
a professionally printed pattern
bias tape
closure options including snaps, buttons and ties.
thread and sewing machine needles
3.5 hours of guided and hands on instruction from Erika
access to the huge community bin of fabric that can be used for patchwork and embellishments!
access to a serger to finish seams
Please bring to the workshop:
a functional sewing machine if you have one (we have studio machines that you are welcome to use if needed. Please let me know and I will have one ready for you!)
Sharp fabric scissors if you have ‘em! We have studio scissors, but there never seems to be enough pairs to go around!
Any special fabrics you would like to include in your project!
Everything else to sew your project will be provided!
This in-person event will take place at BOLT Handmakers Society located at 556 S. Vista Ave. Please arrive on time. You are welcome (and encouraged!) to bring a closed water bottle, beverages, and snacks! The studio can be chilly, so dressing in layers is recommended. There is a small kitchen and fridge available to use.
